We are expanding our ML department (~6 engineers) and looking for a strong Senior or Lead ML Engineer to own and scale our RecSys engine for real-time video feeds, shorts, and recommendations. What you will do Build and scale our end-to-end RecSys pipeline (two-stage: candidate retrieval + ranking) serving real traffic. Implement low-latency, real-time serving models and feature freshness mechanisms for video/infinite scroll feeds. Take ownership of ranking and retrieval models, utilizing PyTorch/TensorFlow, CatBoost/XGBoost, and sequential algorithms (SASRec, Bert4Rec). Productionize your own models end-to-end using Python / FastAPI without needing backend hand-holding. Work closely with product metrics (CTR, watch-time, retention, Ndcg) to drive tangible business outcomes. (Lead profile) Drive architectural direction, set engineering standards, and mentor RecSys team members. Must-have Direct, hands-on RecSys experience in video streaming, social feeds, shorts, or UGC content feeds (general/e-commerce catalog recsys does not apply). Strong experience with two-stage architecture (Candidate Retrieval → Ranking) and real-time/online serving. Solid Python fundamentals (data structures & algorithms) + Advanced SQL. Hands-on production experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and Gradient Boosting (CatBoost, XGBoost, or LightGBM). Independent backend/productionization competence (Python / FastAPI or equivalent). Experience with workflow orchestration and experiment tracking (Airflow, MLflow, Kubeflow, Dagster, or W&B). Strong product mindset and ability to connect ML models to user impact. Nice to have Depth with sequential / session-based recommenders (SASRec, Bert4Rec). Strong ML research / model development depth. Proven track record in A/B testing and ranking metric ownership.
